Schools in Mountain Ash

Mountain Ash (Aberpennar) is a former colliery town in the Cynon Valley, now within Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) County Borough Council. Its 7 schools are Welsh establishments administered under the Welsh co-ordinated admissions system; RCT is the admissions authority for all community and voluntary-controlled schools in the area. As with Pontyclun, families must choose a language medium — Welsh or English — at the point of application, and the two streams are treated as separate schools for oversubscription purposes.
